Thailand’s official name is the “Kingdom of Thailand.” The word “Thai” means “freedom” in the Thai language, reflecting the pride of the Thai people in their nation’s independence and liberty. Located in Southeast Asia, Thailand shares borders with Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia, and boasts a long coastline along the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea.
Thailand has a tropical monsoon climate, with distinct dry and rainy seasons. The average annual temperature ranges from 20°C to 35°C, making the weather pleasant throughout the year.
Thailand has achieved many international milestones in improving quality of life. The country ranks highly in the Human Development Index (HDI) and the Global Happiness Index (GHI). It is also well-known for its strong healthcare system and high-quality medical services.
As one of the fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia and the world, Thailand’s economy is primarily driven by industry, agriculture, and tourism. The capital city, Bangkok, is a vibrant and dynamic metropolis.
